Individual Counseling Q&A
Q1: How do I schedule a counseling appointment?
A1: To schedule a counseling appointment,
- In-person:
You can stop by the Counseling Center in the Second Dorm, located next to 7-11 and fill out a Counseling Application Form.
- On-line:
Campus Information System → Student Affairs System → Enter → Psychological Counseling/Test Application.
Q2: Is counseling confidential?
A2: Information shared with a counselor is legally and ethically considered confidential; it will not be disclosed to anyone outside the Counseling Center without your written permission (very strict exceptions apply). There are exceptions to confidentiality in certain special circumstances, which will be fully explained during an initial counseling. You will sign a “Counseling Informed Consent Form,” and further counseling will only proceed after you sign the form.
If you have specific concerns or questions about confidentiality, feel free to call the Counseling Center and talk to a counselor about this or discuss it.
Q3: How long does it usually take to see a counselor after scheduling an appointment?
A3: After scheduling an appointment, the general wait time for us contact you is within 7 business days. However, due to the high demand and trying to arrange suitable counselors based on your needs, the wait time may be longer.
